This hike starts from the edge of Dilijan, where the city slowly fades into forest. Even though Dilijan is already surrounded by forest, you feel the real wilderness only when you leave the last houses behind. The path opens into a mix of forest trails and soft fields, and from the first steps you understand-this is a journey, not just a walk.
It’s a one-way trail, so we don’t come back the same way. Every part of the path is new, and it invites you to stay present, to really see what’s around you. There’s a lot of life here-wildflowers, birds, mushrooms, and sometimes traces of animals. If we’re lucky, we might see signs of bears passing through, reminders that this forest belongs to them, too.
The trees here are something else. Tall, massive, full of character. Some feel ancient, like wise old guardians of the forest-quietly watching, protecting. You don’t just pass them, you feel them.
Along the way, we cross small rivers, hear water moving through the forest, and slowly begin descending. The landscape changes gently, guiding us down toward Parz Lake, hidden in the heart of the forest. “Parz” means clear in Armenian, and even though it’s not a remote wild lake, it still holds a peaceful atmosphere.
It’s a good place to arrive, to sit, to breathe, and feel the forest differently after walking through it.
After the hike, we continue with a local experience-visiting a family, sharing experience, and getting a deeper connection to the culture and traditions of this region. Not just seeing the place, but feeling how people live here.
